Arm Lift Procedures Up by 4,000 Percent

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons there has been a recent increase in arm lift procedures throughout the United States. In fact the increase has been so drastic that it is up by 4,000 percent in the past decade. In 2012 alone, over 15,000 women received this surgical procedure. What is an arm lift exactly? It can constitute one of two procedures, including liposuction and brachioplasty. These surgeries get rid of the loose skin on the back of the arms to create a more defined and toned look. Individuals most commonly seeking arm lifts include women from 40 to 54 years old. In fact, 48% of the procedures were performed on women in that age range.

There is no exact reason as to why these women are suddenly interested in their arms, but there has been hinting at the idea that they are looking to female celebrities. One poll regarding the women whose arms are most desirable includes First Lady, Michelle Obama at the top with 31 percent of the votes. Coming in at a close second is Jennifer Anniston with 39 percent, followed by Jessica Biel, Kelly Ripa and Demi Moore all in the 11-16 percentage range. Besides Jessica Biel, it is interesting to note that all of these women are over 40 years old. This is most likely due to the fact that they are the same ages as those seeking the procedure.
