Sclerotherapy is an injectable procedure that aims to remove unwanted spider & varicose veins on your legs. To perform sclerotherapy, a very small needle is used to inject medication into the vein that is concerning you. The medication works to collapse the vein and your body eventually replaces it with fresh tissue.
Here at Pacific Plastic Surgery Group, sclerotherapy treatments take about 15-45 minutes (depending on the area treated) and are administered by our Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse.
Repeat treatments are usually required to achieve desired results. We typically recommend you wear compression stockings for the full 48-72 hours following treatment and then for another 2-3 weeks during the day to assist the healing process. For the first 2-3 days after treatment we recommend avoiding heavy exercise, sunbathing, long plane flights, hot baths, or saunas.
