Breast Cancer Detection – San Francisco Breast Exams

Breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer that affects women in the U.S. It is much more common in women above the age of 50, but it can also occur in younger women. Modern breast cancer detection methods are constantly improving to give patients the earliest and best chance to beat this disease.

Breast cancer detection methods will vary depending on the woman’s age. Awareness is important, and breast self-exams are an effective way to check for anomalies. Women in their 20s should perform monthly breast self-exams. Women in their 20s and 30 should undergo a clinical breast exam every three years, whereas women over 40 should have a yearly mammogram and clinical examination.
