Chemical Peels

Very superficial, able to be performed every 2 weeks. Suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types. This is a non-invasive peel that restores a more youthful appearance, improves skin color, clarity, and texture. There is little to no peeling. A great peel to introduce the skin and build tolerance.

The peel is a blend of:

  • Salicylic Acid
  • Resorcinol
  • Phytic Acid
  • Mandelic Acid
  • Malic Acid

VITALIZE PEEL

SkinMedica VITALIZE PEEL® is a superficial peel for mild-to-moderate skin imperfections. Works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, melanoma, and acne-prone skins. It is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin levels. Provides subtle results after 1 peel and compelling results after 3-6. This treatment can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.

The peel is a blend of:

  • Salicylic Acid
  • Lactic Acid
  • Resorcinol
  • Retinol

WHAT TO EXPECT

Immediately after the peel and up to 24 hours afterwards, you may experience the following effects.

  • Skin may be tight and more red than usual
  • Skin may feel tacky and have a yellow to orange tinge. This is temporary and will fade in a few hours
  • Patients should wait until the following morning to wash their face 24 hours after the peel until peeling is complete
  • Skin may be tight until it starts to peel
  • Peeling will generally start between 48 and 72 hours after the procedure
  • Peeling can last 2 to 5 days

REJUVENIZE PEEL

This is a superficial peel that must have the consent of a physician and pretreatment of the Vitalize Peel before treatments. It may be performed every 4-6 weeks, it is well-tolerated with minimal downtime, noticeable improvement after just one peel; significant results after 3-6 treatments. During application patient may feel moderate to strong burning, redness, warmth, and itching may occur after each pass. These symptoms usually subside or become mild within 2-3 minutes.

The peel is a blend of:
Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Resorcinol, Retinol.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Immediately after the peel and up to 24 hours afterwards, you may experience the following effects.

  • Skin may be tight and more red than usual

  • Patients should wait until the following morning to wash their face
  • Skin may be tight until it starts to peel
  • Patient should avoid strenuous exercise starting the day of the procedure and while the skin is peeling
  • Peeling will generally start between 48-72 hours after the procedure, and can last 2 to 5 days. DO NOT PICK OR PULL THE SKIN. Allow skin to peel at its own pace (premature peeling of the skin will result in dry, cracked, raw skin that may develop into post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

BEFORE EACH PEEL

1 WEEK PRIOR TO TREATMENT

Patient should avoid these products and/ or procedures:

  • Electrolysis
  • Depilatory Creams
  • Waxing
  • Laser Hair Removal

3 DAYS PRIOR TO TREATMENT

Patient should avoid these products and/ or procedures:

  • Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac
  • Any products containing retinol, AHA or BHA, or benzoyl peroxide
  • Any exfoliating products or procedures that may be drying or irritating

Caution: Patients who have had a medical procedure, Botox, fillers, and/or microdermabrasion should wait until skin sensitivity is completely resolved before having a SkinMedica Peel.

VERY IMPORTANT: New brown spots, telangiectasia and redness may appear with NEW sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to ALWAYS apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and redness.
