At Pacific Plastic Surgery Group in San Francisco, we continue to offer the latest in innovative treatments and procedures throughout the Bay Area, including ProfoundRF and Profound SubQ by Syneron Candela.

What Is Profound Rf And Profound Subq?

Profound Rf: Uses a 5-paired micro-needle electrode device with bipolar Radio Frequency energy to precisely deliver fractionated thermal stimulation to the deepest levels of your skin where the concentration of naturally-occurring elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid is the highest. These thermal stimuli induce a wound healing response that provides dermal remodeling in these three components, which are integral in creating volume and firmness to the skin.

Profound SubQ: Takes the process of skin rejuvenation one step further by going below the dermal tissue (approximately 6mm) where fibrous tissue and fat cells reside. The 7-paired micro-needles and the heat from the radio frequency work together to cause precise thermal reduction to cellulite and the underlying fat. Profound SubQ is primarily used in conjunction dermal layer treatment to obtain smoother and tighter skin.

Treatment

Profound stimulates new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid formation, resulting in visible skin improvements. If you have any of the following concerns, ProfoundRF and Profound SubQ might be the right treatment for you!

  • Loose or sagging skin on the face (Smile Lines/ Nasolabial and Marionette lines)
  • Loose or sagging skin on the neck (Neck Strands, Platysma bands and Turkey Neck/ Jowls)
  • Loose or sagging skin under the chin (Jawline and Chin/ Submental)
  • Under Chin Fat (Double Chin)
  • Loose or sagging skin on the body (abdomen, arms, legs, buttocks, thighs, bra rolls)
  • Cellulite and more!

How Do Profound Results Compare To Ultherapy And Microneedling?

Ultherapy and microneedling are both effective at causing small amounts of structural changes to the skin, thus beginning the natural healing process and formation of new elastin and collagen. We have found that with the more aggressive, yet controlled approach using Profound, patients have been more satisfied with results. As with all skin treatment, results can vary based on patient age, skin damage, smoking, health, skin type, etc.

What Areas Can You Treat?

Each treatment begins with a complimentary consultation with one of our trained medical providers. After creating a customized treatment and you are deemed a good candidate the procedure will be scheduled.

  • Numbing cream will be applied to the area(s) being treated.
  • Next, local anesthetic to the deeper dermal layers will be injected for optimal comfort.
  • Once the anesthetic has taken affect, the Profound treatment begins. The Profound micro-needle device uses either a 5-paired or 7-paired electrode that is inserted for 3-4 seconds.
  • After the area(s) have been treated, a nourishing cream and SPF are applied.

Why Are Elastin And Collagen Important?

These proteins are found at different depths with collagen at deeper dermal depth, whereas elastin is more superficial.

Together, they promote skin strength, firmness, and shape. The collagen provides the foundational rigidity while elastin allows skin to stretch and return to its previous shape. Over time, these proteins naturally become less abundant and as you can imagine the effects can be very apparent. The two proteins are critical components the prevention and cause of wrinkles and sagging skin.

What Is Elastin?

Elastin is a protein found in connective tissue that has coil and recoil properties—like a spring or rubber band. coils and recoils like a spring within the elastic fibers of connective tissue in the body – like your skin. Elastin is responsible for allowing your skin, heart, lungs and many other tissues to snap back into shape after stretching or contracting.

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is a group of proteins also found in connective tissue. Its main function is to provide rigidity and strength. It is the foundation upon which the outer layers of the skin and other tissues are anchored.
